Episode 1 - THE SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MASSACRE
Katherine opens up the casefile that was the catalyst for the creation of the FBI’s active shooter program and ground-breaking research, the massacre of 20 elementary school students and 6 adults at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012.
It was a crime that stopped the nation and the world in its tracks and left us asking how do we protect our most precious little bundles when we leave them at the school gate. Katherine sets about swapping Sarah’s fears for facts. Along the way she demystifies school training drills like RUN, HIDE, FIGHT backed up with real life examples of what works and why.
But this isn’t an episode just for parents, run, hide, fight training can save your life if you were to find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time. We round out the episode looking at the Killers history, understanding the behaviours of concern is key to prevent these killers but how do you know when to “see something and say something”. Katherine puts Sarah to the test. How many red flags can YOU spot? AND would YOU have reported it?
